Detox

The most natural way for the body to rid itself of toxins is through the sweating process. Humans have been detoxifying using this process for tens of thousands of years. Infrared sauna therapy aids this release of toxins by resonating the bonds that hold toxins locked in the subcutaneous fat layer under the skin. Researchers analysed the sweat from both traditional and infrared saunas. Sweat from traditional sauna users was about 97% water and 3% toxins. Infrared saunas produced sweat that was only 80 — 85% water. The remaining 15-20% was made up of heavy metals, sulfuric acid, sodium, ammonia, uric acid and fat-soluble toxins.

How to prepare:

Hydrate

Your body will be sweating a lot whilst you’re in the sauna. Therefore, we recommend you hydrate beforehand in order to give your body a chance to get ready for the Infrared Sauna session. Keep hydrated throughout your day leading up to your sauna session. In all situations, hydration is a requirement for sauna use. You are more than welcome to continue hydrating whilst in the sauna and there will be water available for you at the clinic too. Don’t eat a big meal within an hour before your sauna and alcohol cannot be consumed during the day leading up to your session.

Shower

It is recommended that you have a quick shower prior to your sauna session, so that all excess body oils and chemicals (make up, deodorants, perfumes etc) have been removed.

Sauna Attire

You can enjoy your sauna session in any attire you feel comfortable in. You will sweat a lot. We do recommend that you also wear/bring clothes that you will feel comfortable in wearing at the end of your session after you towel down. You can wear bathers, a sarong or light gym wear inside of the Sauna. Your Sauna session will be private, unless you have arranged a double booking. Nudity is not acceptable. There is a basket provided for you to store clothes in, whilst you're in the Sauna. We recommend wearing a clean pair of thongs in the Sauna.

Towels

It’s never appropriate to sit directly on the Sauna bench. Please make sure to sit or lay on a clean towel. We recommend bringing in your own towel, however spare towels are also available in the sauna room.

Sauna Use

The Sauna should ideally be set between 40-60 degrees Celsius.

You can connect your mobile to the Sauna's Bluetooth and Listen to relaxing music, an audiobook or just relax, meditate or read. Relax and enjoy your Sauna session. You are welcome to use the Sauna for up to 45 minutes.

After Your Session

Once your Sauna session is finished you can step out of the sauna and air dry your skin, dry off with your towel or you are more than welcome to have a quick shower and rinse off. If having a shower at the clinic, please bring all of your belongings with you into the bathroom. Please be sure to continue hydrating after your session. Please put any clinic towels used in the towels basket provided.
